The stars are already wearing Pantone’s 2019 colour of the year
Pantone has revealed its colour of the year for 2019: ‘Living Coral‘. The shade is described by Pantone as “evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of colour”, relating it to the importance of coral reefs in our environment.
It’s already a hit with celebrities; Gigi Hadid was spotted on the streets of New York last week dressed head-to-toe in the vibrant hue.
The model combined the colour with the styling trick of one-tone dressing (a particular favourite wardrobe technique of hers). She matched her blazer, lace trousers, Louboutin boots and coat together in the same bright shade – with co-ordinating coral eyeshadow to top it off.
Jennifer Lopez and Amy Adams were also spotted wearing the shade this month; Adams opted for a draped dress by Chloe, while Lopez followed Hadid’s maximalist lead, pairing her bright dress with a matching coat, tinted sunglasses and luminous orange courts.
Living Coral was seen throughout the spring/ summer 2019 collections this year, with Prada, Altuzarra and Brandon Maxwell all featuring looks in the optimistic shade. Vanessa Hudgens demonstrated a softer take on the trend in a peachy-hued dress straight off the Marc Jacobs SS19 catwalk.
You can tap into the trend by taking style notes from Hadid and dressing head-to-toe in coral or – for those slightly more colour shy – simply opting for a statement accessory like a pair of sunglasses for the spring/summer season, a bold piece of jewellery or a vibrant bag to tie your outfit together.
